Steam Please Enter Your Birthdate to Continue

yeahh that gets a teeny bit annoying after a while... i was just wondering this today actually! funny that you bring it up haha

Use the search bar provided to search this topic and see the thousands of times why we said NO

I think this is just useless warning and annoying! Everyone would type fake birth date, if he is under age only to see a game/preview! It is just waste of time and clicking...

They could added an option for birth date inside the account and everyone would be happy devs and users :) If they really need this warning...

That's the whole thing. It shifts the blame from the store/site to the user. Can't (easily) sue if someone lied about their age.

The best part is that some of the most disgusting games I played do not have that window .

yeah but that means they lied and thusly not only does that clear Valve and the developer from any wrong doing in allowing a minor to access questionable material. It also allows Valve and the developer to sue you/your parents/guardian. or at the very least if a stink is raised, it gives them grounds for account termination. Because, you lied,

They could added an option for birth date inside the account and everyone would be happy devs and users :) If they really need this warning...

Actually no. That's not how the age gate thing works. Suffice it to say. Valve does this to ensure complience with the regulations of all the international regions it trades in.

They will never know if someone lied :) I think more safe will be, if birth date was inside the account will be less annoying! Or even better inside the account and can`t be changed. When reg. is made player type his birth date and will stay same for ever. But like now same user can type any birth date he like and any time he like and this is safe LOL

Do you think that no one lied about age heh you are wrong, because there is no information how old that player/user is no picture etc. so we could say is just useless warning and annoying.

They can`t because there is no information how old that player. And you can be sure that a lot of players give fake birth date to see game information. Tell me who will know if they type fake birth date? Do devs know his real birth date NO so :)

Which is the point. WIthout some governmentr issued id , a registry and access to such. there's no way to confirm age. BUt if you say lie about your age, byuy titty wank simulator and your parents find out and start blaming Valve . Then Valve is covered. They can point to the age gate.

So the parents either must admit they were not properly supervising their child. Which is a crime. Or they raised the child to be a liar, which basically can be considered improper care.

If they even care what games he play :) But a lot better and less annoying will be if birth date was inside the account like most pages have it is simple, safe and not annoying!

And player can type fake birth date to see game information no one will know even parents!! But if was birth date inside the account player could never look the game if he is below the allowed age -> Safe 100%

Sure this will be a problem for most players, because they could not play the games. Now they can play the game anyway but at least will be less annoying.

Anyway I˙m not using steam a lot so I don`t realy care about this.... I just click on game and start playing :) I`m not using community etc. if I do will this s*** be really annoying!

I only ask if you like it is ok with me :D

Adding your age to the Steam account doesn't help because people would just say they are 30 when they are 8.

They have to ask the question as they need the person who is clicking the LINK (not who is logged in) to say they are over 18 and so they are able to track what they do on the site. If you tell the truth, fine, if you lie then if at any point someone tries to sue Valve saying that they were showing items that were over-age, they have the proof to come back and say "the person that clicked the link said they were over 18 - therefore we showed them age related material".

So, they can't add it onto the Steam account because it's the person who is clicking the LINK - you could log in, walk away and someone younger could go to the page.

Ok now tell me how many times this happen, and why/when they use age security? Don`t say if they need etc. because I think this is to much for one small information. We are not talking here for bank account. If steam account is verified with your phone number is ok. It is just birth date not bank account... And birth date in account is more then enough + verified phone number.

But ok... I only ask. If I search for games is one time per month so no problem. When I search is at least 5 games in a row so is only one warning :)

legally required, and since Valve is a US company they need to adhere to US laws

go complain to the americain government if you dont like it
